HRT make a toy car
by Terry Saunders on 8/02/2011Hispania Racing Totally has today launched it’s new car via a picture.
The F11111111111 is appararently a significant step forward, I’m guessing up to five times better, but five multiplied by zero is still zero.
Gone from the car is the drab livery of 2010 in favour of a design by “Cosmic Motors” (nope never heard of it either) designer Daniel Simon who had said that
“Being offered a blank canvas by the Hispania Racing and with it the opportunity to bring to life elements of ‘Cosmic Motors’, was something I just couldn’t pass up. It’s going to be an exciting journey as Hispania Racing evolves and grows and I’m looking forward to the challenge of creating a strong visual statement for the team”
For a usually uninspiring team this decision was actually quite exciting, to avoid a livery dictated by sponsors brandin. So it is dismaying to see that he has made the livery of ANY TOY CAR on a six year olds bedroom floor. He’s used a chequered flag motif? What is this, a 1980′s cartoon? It doesn’t look like a Formula One car, nor an exciting new vision of what a car could be, but more like the kind of thing you’d find in a colouring book in a pound shop that carefully avoids calling itself F1 to avoid a being sued. So here is the 2011 RaceCar 5000 Champion Car!

Hopefully the pictures released are just mockups because the “This Could Be You”, Cool Spot” and “Your Logo Here” isn’t boding well for 2011 sponsorship.
